Mawufemor Amuzu

Mawufemor Amuzu is a master's student and a graduate teaching assistant at the Department of Communication. She received her B.A. from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana, where she majored in English and minored in French. She was a Mastercard Foundation Scholar while there. Mawufemor is interested in organizational, international and interpersonal communication and hopes to pursue a career as a corporate communication and/or public relations specialist.

Gloria Akua Annan

Gloria Akua Annan is a master’s student and teaching assistant in SLU’s Department of Communication. She pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a minor study in political science at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana from 2015 to 2019.

She has four years of experience in claims communications, digital marketing communications and brand reputation management in the insurance industry. Her research interest lies at the intersection of corporate communications and health (insurance) communications, while working toward furthering her education in either communication, public and social policy or forensic linguistics.

Merris Barber

Merris Barber is a graduate student pursuing her M.A. in communication. She graduated from SLU with a B.A. in communication before working as a preschool teacher for a year in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. She loves how communication is the root of everything and the flexibility the field allows. She is particularly interested in studying intergroup dialogue, the role of communication in social justice, the intersection between language and identity, and various other topics. Merris also teaches public speaking as a graduate teaching assistant in the program.

Anna Baugher

Anna Baugher is a master’s student and teaching assistant in SLU’s Department of Communication. She received her B.A. in communication with a focus on journalism and media studies from SLU in May 2023. Anna is interested in the field of rhetorical studies — particularly narrative criticism, metamorphic criticism, and the rhetoric of public memory. After earning her master’s, she plans to begin a Ph.D. program and pursue a career as a college professor.

Gabriel Olmiro de Castilhos

Gabriel Olmiro de Castilhos uses the pronouns he/him/his. He is a Brazilian student deeply interested in Latin America and its relations with the imperialist and colonialist background. His research focuses on this background's effects on the current relationship between Latines and the media representation of ethnicity, culture and community. He received a B.A. in advertising and marketing (2021) from Universidade de Caxias do Sul (UCS), Brazil. He is currently in the Master of Arts in Communication program at SLU and works as a research assistant.

Ifeyinwa Enedah

Prisca Enedah is an M.A. student in communication. She is interested in the tactical use of communications strategies to achieve organizational missions and goals. Coming from a background in psychology at the prestigious Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Nigeria, Prisca has gained experience in marketing and communications, digital content strategy, and integrated communications campaigns. She is a graduate assistant at Saint Louis University's Division of Marketing and Communications. Her career goal is to work with organizations to build and maintain brand equity through impactful communications strategies.

Gurwinder Kaur

Gurwinder Kaur is a master’s student and graduate teaching assistant in SLU's Department of Communication. She has a master’s in English literature and language, and taught English and public speaking for five years. She is interested in health, organization, and gender communication and plans to enroll in a Ph.D. program after earning a master's degree. Her ultimate career goal is to become a professor and teach communication.

Ashley Jost

Ashley Jost received her B.A. in communication from Truman State University in 2013. She then worked as a journalist after graduation for several years covering higher education, among other things, before switching to higher education. Free speech continues to be a passion for her, and she's also developed an interest in making scholarship more accessible, getting it into the hands of actual practitioners, whether they’re journalists or communicators in industry.

In January 2023, she moved abroad to work temporarily at SLU-Madrid, and now her goal is to stay and see whether she can make her mark on an international campus!

Reeti KC

Reeti KC is a master’s student in communication at Saint Louis University. Her interest is researching new media, media stereotypes, and their impact on women and girls. She is researching the social impacts of media and technology and is passionate about advocating for women and girls and their representation in digital media. Her goal is to work for a non-profit organization supporting women and girls. She received her B.A. in Media Studies from Kathmandu University, Nepal, and works as a research assistant at SLU.

Kiara Laack

Kiara Laack is an M.A. student and full-time communication coordinator for SLU's 1818 Program. She received her B.A. in mass communications from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2019 and has since worked abroad in Spain as an educator, and built her own business as a freelance photographer and videographer. While she's most interested in applied work in media and design, she's found a lot of fulfillment in conducting intercultural and social justice research through SLU's communication program.

Monique Roos

Monique Roös is a master’s student in Communication at Saint Louis University and has a Bachelor of Science in Communications - Advertising from Universidade do Vale dos Sinos (Brazil). She is a Brazilian with more than 10 years of experience in marketing and advertising, paired with ongoing studies in communication. She worked in ad campaigns in New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Mexico and Brazil on projects for small and large companies.

She is interested in communication in the fashion industry and continues to seek the opportunity to grow and further develop her marketing skill set as a professional in the field.
