SLU Mobile Health Clinic
A signature expression of Saint Louis University School of Medicine’s Ignatian mission, the mobile health clinic serves the most vulnerable and disenfranchised populations. The initiative was launched to reduce pre-existing healthcare barriers and form partnerships across SLU, SSM Health and the St. Louis region.
About the Mobile Health Clinic
The SLU mobile health clinic originated in 2022 with $500,000 in federal funding. This investment was used to purchase and equip a clinic that brings healthcare directly to those who need it most: individuals who lack housing, affordable services, nearby facilities, transportation or the technology to use telehealth options.
Today, the University operates two mobile health clinics: its original vehicle — featuring two exam rooms, a restroom and wheelchair access — as well as a more compact van acquired in 2025. Both help SLU faculty address unmet health and wellness needs while giving students, residents and fellows hands-on training.
Services include basic exams, immunizations, health screenings and other routine care that can help avoid more costly services or trips to the emergency room.
The mobile health clinic is the natural evolution of SLU’s original Health Resource Center in north St. Louis, expanding free health care services to underserved populations across the entire St. Louis region.
