Saint Louis University School of Medicine’s mission-oriented student organizations provide underrepresented medical students with opportunities to feel supported and empowered.

Student National Medical Association (SNMA)

The SNMA supports underrepresented minority medical students and addresses the needs of underserved communities. 

Goals

  • Maximize the number of physicians who are:
    • Clinically excellent
    • Culturally competent
    • Socially conscious
  • Provide advocacy and community service
  • Celebrate diversity
  • Grow the pipeline of underrepresented minority students considering medical and scientific careers

Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA)

LMSA unites and empowers medical students to advocate for the Latino community through service, mentorship and education. 

Goals

  • Unify Latino medical students under one organization
  • Provide a voice for underrepresented Latino medical students
  • Provide monthly health screenings
  • Participate in national and regional conferences
  • Promote the recruitment and retention of Latino students at all levels
  • Educate medical students on Latino health issues
  • Advocate for the rights of Latinos in health care
  • Provide leadership opportunities for Latinos
  • Promote volunteerism in the Latino community

QMA raises awareness, advocacy and education around LGBTQIA-plus issues within the medical community. 

Goals

  • Host physician panels
  • Offer educational opportunities
  • Build an accepting, fun community at Saint Louis University School of Medicine
