CHI Faculty Research Award Programs
The College of Arts and Sciences Collaborative for Humanistic Inquiry offers two research award opportunities designed to support and facilitate the scholarship of Arts and Sciences faculty researchers whose work promotes humanistic inquiry.
Humanistic Inquiry connotes a broad approach focusing on fundamental questions about human experience, including how individuals and societies live, think, interact and express themselves.
CHI Faculty Research Award
The CHI Faculty Research Award offers support for a variety of projects. Proposals that are humanistic in nature submitted by full-time, ranked faculty members with primary or secondary appointments in the College of Arts and Sciences are eligible for consideration. Junior faculty are particularly encouraged to apply.
Submission deadline is Jan. 15, 2026 for projects initiated during the 13-month period beginnnig May 1, 2026.
CHI Faculty Fellowship Program
The Faculty Fellowship Program supports faculty researchers whose work promotes humanistic inquiry. Research outcomes may include books, articles, performances, exhibits, policy proposals, and public-facing initiatives. Projects with community-facing dimensions and broad appeal to both a scholarly and non-scholarly audience are especially encouraged for application to this program. Applicants must hold a full-time, ranked faculty position with a primary appointment in the College of Arts and Sciences. Junior faculty are particularly encouraged to apply.
