A Message From the Program Director
Welcome to the Addicition Medicine Fellowship Program.
Addiction medicine was recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties in 2016, and our first fellow started this program in 2020. Since then, we've grown to three fellows in each one-year cohort and expanded from two addiction medicine board certified physicians to six.
Our fellowship is one of only a few that offers:
- Core rotations in our addiction medicine consult service
- Inpatient psychiatry at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital
- Maternal fetal medicine at the WISH Center in SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital - St. Louis
- Ambulatory and virtual care at Assisted Recovery Centers of America
We are grateful for funding from the Missouri Foundation of Health, the Missouri Department of Mental Health, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration, and the Missouri Opioid Litigation Funds. The monetary support allows fellows dedicated time to teach other trainees and health professionals about the full range of substance use services — from prevention and screening to harm reduction, treatment and recovery support.
SLU SOM is partnering with SSM Health to provide patient care and establish a comprehensive set of system-wide services. Through our clinical services and advocacy, we cultivate health and growth for individuals, families and communities.
Please reach out with any questions.
