Mission Statement

Our mission in the College of Arts and Sciences is to create and foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community that recognizes and amplifies our students, faculty, and staff.  As part of this commitment, we embrace all human diversity, including race and ethnicity, gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, language, culture, national origins, religious commitments, age, status, political perspectives and more. We understand that the work of social justice is ongoing, and we affirm our commitment to building and sustaining a diverse, inclusive, and equitable working and learning environment.

Upcoming Events

Christopher Kellerman, SJ to discuss his new book, “All Oppression Shall Cease: A History of Slavery, Abolition, and the Catholic Church.”

The event will take place at 5 p.m., Feb. 15, 2023, in DuBourg Hall 409.

“All Oppression Shall Cease: A History of Slavery, Abolition, and the Catholic Church” explores the Catholic Church’s complex relationship with slavery, spanning from Biblical times to the 19th-century abolition movement.

The event is co-sponsored by the Department of History, the Department of Theology, and the Center for Research on Global Catholicism.
