03/01/23- Ajay Jain, M.D. (eMHA 2020) is a professor of pediatrics, pharmacology, and physiology at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine and a SLUCare/SSM Faculty member in Pediatrics-Hepatology and Gastroenterology with an interest in finance.
02/09/23- Second-year MHA student Moustapha Mbaye (2023) is focused on giving back. Upon graduating this spring with a Master of Health Administration degree, Mbaye will start an administrative fellowship at the University of Chicago-Medicine.
02/08/23- Assistant Professor Marcea Walter’s career has always pointed her back to teaching. As Director of Admissions and Director of Accreditation for the Master of Health Administration program, Walter is called to immerse herself in each students’ world.
02/07/23- Katie Castree Benyo (MHA ’12) is a Client Account Lead at Accumen, Inc. – a nationwide technology-enabled consulting services company helping hospitals and health systems respond to new challenges.
02/06/23- Juliet Iwelunmor, Ph.D., professor of global health and behavioral science and health education at Saint Louis University’s College for Public Health and Social Justice, was awarded a five-year $2.83 million grant from the National Cancer Institute to enhance the understanding of HPV prevention in resource-constrained settings, building upon the strength of the girls and women within these settings.
01/31/23- For the past year, researchers at Saint Louis University have been working on an app-based citizen science campaign that can help St. Louisans keep track of mosquito hotbeds, determine if any mosquitos have the potential to carry diseases, learn how to better protect themselves from these pests and more, all while engaging in community science.
01/30/23- Using a crowdsourcing framework utilized over the past five years, Juliet Iwelunmor, Ph.D., professor of global health and behavioral science and health education at Saint Louis University’s College for Public Health and Social Justice, is taking what she learned from empowering youth in Nigeria to identify young people in the United States who aim to become the next generation of HIV researchers, leaders and innovators in the field.
01/19/23- Dr. Julia López has many titles: professor, researcher, and licensed social worker. She has been an adjunct professor at Saint Louis University now for eight years, teaching public health and social-work topics, with an emphasis on inspiring students to be a part of difficult conversations.
01/03/23- Students will have three minutes and one PowerPoint slide to share their research and show the audience what it means and why it matters. The competition offers prizes in the doctoral and master's categories (first place - $750; second place - $500; third place - $250).
12/08/22- Accelerated MPH student & co-chairwoman for Billiken Bounty, Maxine Taylor, recently discussed initiatives at Saint Louis University fighting food insecurity on and off campus through Billiken Bounty.
11/16/22- Policy Pods are small groups of students that engage in legislative research and meetings. Participants meet weekly on topics such as criminal-justice reform, immigration reform, the environment, education immigration, disability rights and others.
11/15/22- Recent Saint Louis University Graduate, Ucheoma Nwaozuru, Ph.D., did a Q&A with current second year MPH student and CPHSJ Marketing and Communication graduate assistant, Michael Vega.
11/09/22- SORT, made up of primarily Master of Public Health (MPH) and Master of Health Administration (MHA) students at Saint Louis University (SLU), works to get students involved with outbreak response through training and education events led by epidemiologists and public health professionals while exposing students to current issues in the infectious disease field.
11/08/22- Tamika Mitchell (Finance ’05, MBA/MHA ’08), the inaugural Expert in Residence (XIR) in the Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business, was named a St. Louis Business Journal 40 Under 40 for 2022.
10/26/22- Nancy L. Weaver, Ph.D., will be honored with the Dr. Terry Leet Researcher Award at the annual Standing Up for Black Mothers and Babies Awards Event.
10/21/22- The College for Public Health and Social Justice Graduate Student Association for Health Management and Policy (SAHMP) is a student-led organization that seeks to improve and impact student engagement and the student experience during students’ studies within CPHSJ.

10/04/22- Michael Curran, a graduate student in Saint Louis University’s College for Public Health and Social Justice, received the COVID-19 Pandemic Civilian Service Medal this month for his exemplary service to the nation as a member of the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) in its Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) during the federal medical response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
09/29/22- Saint Louis University’s nationally-ranked Master of Health Administration (MHA) program is celebrating its 75th year, making it one of the oldest MHA programs in the country and a pioneer in health management education.

09/15/22- On Friday, September 9th and Saturday September 10th, students in the Executive Master of Health Administration (eMHA) program gathered in person for an experience weekend designed to network and learn from other local health care leaders.
09/09/22- The Saint Louis University College for Public Health and Social Justice has named SangNam Ahn, Ph.D., M.P.S.A. as an associate professor in the Department for Health Management and Policy.
09/09/22- Juliet Iwelunmor, Ph.D. and Enbal Shacham, Ph.D., from Behavioral Science and Health Education were a part of the inaugural class of SLU Research Institute fellows that was honored during a joint ceremony in September 2022.
09/01/22- For Dirk Alander, MD, MHA, FACS (MHA ‘17) it’s never too late to make a change, find a new career path, or explore a new skill. Alander currently fulfills the role of Medical Officer in the Office of Orthopedic Devices, Division of Spinal Devices for the Center for Devices and Radiologic Health at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
08/30/22- Brianna Clare (MHA 2018) is Population Health Director for Oak Street Health, a network of nationwide value-based primary care centers for adults on Medicare.
08/18/22- Arledge is making the best of her opportunities, while creating a few of her own along the way. In her first year in the Saint Louis University Master of Health Administration program she secured two internships and took on four leadership roles across the health administration landscape.
07/26/22- Billiken soccer standout defender Brionna Halverson, who earned a bachelor's degree in public health and is pursuing a master's degree in organizational leadership, is Saint Louis University's nominee for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
07/25/22- For the third consecutive year, Saint Louis University was recognized by the Women’s Foundation of Greater St. Louis (WFSTL) as a top place for women to work. This is WFSTL’s fifth annual “Women in the Workplace: Employment Scorecard.”
06/23/22- During the course of their time as undergraduates in the College for Public Health and Social Justice, public health students engage in field exposure as part of their curriculum. Traditionally, this experience came through service learning, an approach that joins concepts taught in the classroom with community experience.

06/13/22- Fourteen SLU graduates received 2022 Alumni Awards. The graduates were honored at a dinner and recognized at the commencement ceremony. The celebration marked the return of the awards after the COVID-19 pandemic altered plans to hold in-person recognition in 2020 and 2021.
06/02/22- Public health has come to the attention of the public more than ever since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. And yet, while awareness of the importance of community health practices and policies has risen, the public remains removed from the process.
05/26/22- In honor of ATLAS Week, Saint Louis University Public Health Accelerated Undergraduate student Liam John (BSHMP ‘23) gave a presentation on the idea of creating a community-like center inside of SLU-owned Il Monstero, a modest building on campus that which once served the community as a church and gathering place.
05/13/22- Upon graduating this Spring, she will begin a fellowship with the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona where she is looking forward to submerging herself in the Mayo Clinic culture and experiencing all facets of health care operations through her rotations.
05/11/22- This April, health management students and faculty from Saint Louis University attended the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) 2022 Congress on Healthcare Leadership in Chicago. Students, alumni, and faculty at Saint Louis University took part in a plethora of education opportunities, training, and mentoring as it relates to the field of health care management.
04/29/22- Bryce Takenaka got the ball rolling on his public health career in an unconventional way. Originally from Honolulu, Takenaka followed his talent and passion for bowling to St. Louis, while pursuing interests in healthcare related fields.
