SLU Announces Latest Scholarly Works and Grant Winners Honorees

Saint Louis University’s Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) will honor the work of faculty members, research staff, and graduate students at its annual Scholarly Works and Grant Winners reception on Friday, April 5.   

The annual ceremony celebrates research excellence and recognizes success in publications and other scholarly outputs as well as grants and service from SLU faculty and staff. Winners will be recognized for accomplishments from 2023. This event will take place from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Sinquefield Room located in DuBourg Hall, Room 409.  

All faculty, staff, and students are welcome to join in the celebration. The reception will begin at 3 p.m. with the program beginning shortly after. 

The program will present awards to the Scholarly Works winners followed by presentations to Grant Winners. 

Scholarly Works Honorees 

Public Works  

• Junior Faculty Winner: Michael Sinha, M.D., J.D., (Health Law Studies), for “CBD: The Gordian Knot of Pot,” (with Grace M. Peterson), Health Affairs Forefront
• Honorable Mention: Karla Scott, Ph.D., (Communication), for A Primer: to talk about race & dialogue across identity divisions, published by Dialogue, Diversity & Dharma
• Senior Faculty Winner: Bradley Bailey, Ph.D., (Fine and Performing Arts), for “Sound Moves: Where Music Meets Chess,” an exhibition at the World Chess Hall of Fame, St. Louis

• Senior Faculty Winner: Lucy Cashion, MFA, (Fine and Performing Arts), for “The Brechtfast Club,” a theatrical adaptation of the movie “The Breakfast Club” in the style of Bertolt Brecht, which she produced, directed, designed, and co-wrote
