The Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business graduate business programs are designed for current and aspiring business professionals to grow their expertise while reaching their personal and professional goals.
MBA Areas of Emphasis
The Master of Business Administration is intended to be an advanced management degree with breadth; therefore, our MBA curriculum includes as many nine elective hours as part of the degree. Students may decide to concentrate the electives in a particular area of study to create an area of emphasis.
Each area of emphasis requires specific coursework. Note that a course may not be applied as a requirement for more than one area of emphasis.

Master of Accounting Requirements
The Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business, with its continuing mission to provide excellence in business education, has developed a program to help students develop strong ethical, technical and professional accounting skills, and provides in-depth expertise in general accounting, taxation and auditing.
While all students will complete a core of required courses that will prepare them for a career in accounting and the CPA examination, the graduate accounting programs offer distinct areas of emphasis which allow students to further their knowledge in a specific discipline of accounting. Students will achieve an area of emphasis if they complete at least three elective courses in one of the three areas offered: audit, taxation or financial reporting.

One-Year MBA
The intensive nature of SLU’s one-year MBA program encourages thinking across disciplines and learning by immersion, so students graduate with a thorough understanding of the business world. Each cohort is comprised of students from diverse educational backgrounds and experiences. Additionally, the program can be completed in less than one calendar year in nearly half the time (and cost) of a traditional two-year full-time MBA program.
Saint Louis University offers the only AACSB-accredited one-year MBA program in the region. Fewer than five percent of business schools worldwide are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Ethics in business has been embedded in SLU’s business curriculum from the beginning, as Jesuit tradition demands excellence in research, teaching and service to humanity. The University’s mission requires that we honor human dignity as we promote the common good by becoming men and women for others in everything we do.
Between the fall and spring semesters, students study abroad in Hong Kong to gain valuable hands-on international business experience in fields such as marketing and finance.

Yes. Our Professional MBA program participates in the MBA Multilateral Agreement. Because of this unique agreement among select Jesuit schools across the country, it is possible that more graduate credits from SLU will transfer if you relocate to another region of the country.
This agreement provides students with an unparalleled flexibility to transfer as many graduate credits as possible to complete their MBA degree at another participating Jesuit or Catholic university. The majority of Jesuit colleges and universities across the United States, along with three Catholic, non-Jesuit universities, participate in the Jesuit MBA Multilateral Agreement. Participating students are required to meet the admission requirements of the school to which they wish to transfer. SLU offers a deferred payment option. Students are asked to complete the online form for the specific term to be enrolled in the deferred payment option if your employer offers a tuition reimbursement program.
Yes, scholarships are available and can be awarded twice a year. Awards are granted
up to the complete cost of one class ( or 3 credit hours). Students who receive limited
education benefits from their employer are especially encouraged to apply. A separate
application and essay are required for consideration.
