Aging and Memory Clinic

This multidisciplinary clinic offers family-centered services to patients and families struggling with dementia and/or older adult issues. Services are available for area individuals and families who otherwise cannot afford care.

Queer and Trans Wellness Clinic

This clinic provides therapy services to LGVTQIA+ youth and adults within the Center for Counseling and Family Therapy. Patients are counseled by trained student therapists under the supervision of Medical Family Therapy Program faculty.

Transgender Health Collaborative

The Transgender Health Collaborative is a network of faculty researchers, educators and clinicans working with the transgender community throughout Saint Louis University and its partner organizations. The group promotes the health of the transgender and genderqueer community through clinical services, research and clinical education. 

The collaborative also hosts Interprofessional Transgender Health Education Day — a full-day training that provides foundational knowledge on transgender health and gender-inclusive communication for students in clinical education or training programs at SLU.

Research

Researchers have conducted a number of research projects related to the department's mission. Topics include:

  • African American perinatal patients' health care experiences
  • The lack of diversity and equity in the history of clinical research
  • The impact of racial and gender minority stressors
  • The health knowledge and health literacy gap among Japanese immigrants in the U.S.

Mission Ambassador

The mission ambassador ensures the University's Jesuit mission is reflected in the department's commitment to cura personalis — care for the whole person — and community-informed care. The ambassador develops goals and activities that facilitate that ission and further support the department's culture of diversity and inclusion.
