The Saint Louis University Research Institute and the Office of Alumni Engagement will host a virtual session, “Finding Immunity: The Race for a COVID-19 Vaccine at Saint Louis University,” at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, via Zoom.
This webinar will bring together researchers from SLU's nationally recognized Center for Vaccine Development and SLU experts in health law, geospatial science and equity to discuss the University's research, clinical trials, intellectual property and practical considerations for vaccine trials and access to an eventual vaccine.
About the Speakers
SLU is active in the fight against COVID-19, with more 60 SLU researchers from 20 different schools and departments are actively involved in this process.
In August 2020, SLU’s Center for Vaccine Development began a phase 3 clinical trial of a possible COVID-19 vaccine.
In spring 2020, Stephen C. Peiper, M.D. (Med ’77) and Zi-Xuan “Zoe” Wang, Ph.D., his wife, donated $750,000 to SLU in support of vaccine research and development, including the research and development of potential vaccines for COVID-19.
In addition to supporting research, this gift will establish the Stephen C. Peiper and Zi-Xuan Wang Institute for Vaccine Science and Policy, a center of excellence in vaccine research.
