Jamie S. Sutherell, M.D., M.Ed., is the associate dean of student affairs and associate professor of pediatrics in the division of cardiology. He graduated from the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo before completing his residency training in pediatrics at Washington University in St. Louis. After a year as a chief resident, he completed his fellowship training in pediatric cardiology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, where he also completed a master’s degree in education from the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Sutherell has been a faculty member at SLUSOM since 2009.
Dr. Sutherell has served in a variety of education roles at SLUSOM, including the director of medical student education in pediatrics and as the pediatric cardiology fellowship director before moving to the office of student affairs in 2017. He has received numerous teaching awards in his educational roles at SLUSOM. Dr. Sutherell’s clinical expertise is noninvasive imaging of congenital heart disease, including transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography.
Dr. Schindler received her BA from Penn State, her MA and PhD from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and her MS in Education from Southern Illinois University. She has been at Saint Louis University School of Medicine in the Office of Curricular Affairs since 2002.
As assistant dean for program evaluation and assessment Dr. Schindler is responsible for management and oversight of all aspects of program evaluation- student performance, course, and faculty.
