'St. Louis Freedom Struggle, 1821-1968'

Wednesday, 16 November, 2016

This event will take place at 6 p.m. Nov. 16, in the Anheuser-Busch Auditorium of the John and Lucy Cook Hall.

In anticipation of the Missouri History Museum's upcoming exhibit, #1 in Civil Rights: The African American Freedom Struggle in St. Louis, the Division of Student Development welcomes Jody Sowell, Ph.D., director of exhibitions and research, Missouri History Museum, to campus to discuss the history of the struggle for civil rights in St. Louis:

St. Louis played a leading role in the battle for fair and equitable treatment, a role that is generally under-appreciated. Sowell will focus on two periods: before Brown v. Board of Education (1821-1954) and the modern Civil Rights Movement (1954-1968).
