This fall, the AI@SLU team is launching several new monthly series involving hands-on tutorials that explore “Techniques of AI.” The first tutorial is set at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, online.
The first tutorial involves Hidden Markov Models (HMMs) and will be led by David Letscher, Ph.D., of the Department of Computer Science.
About the Tutorial
Hidden Markov Models (HMMs) are used to model environments where you can observe some of the information about the environment around you, but other information is hidden. Using a series of observations you can use statistical and machine learning techniques to gain more accurate estimates of what is happening behind the scenes. This allows you to make decision in these noisy, uncertain environments. This tutorial will be interactive. All you will need is a computer with a browser.
