The School of Education will present a special virtual Homecoming Weekend version of its Luncheon Speaker Series on Sunday, Sept. 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The session will focus on “Teaching for Equity in the Midst of a Pandemic” and will feature Melissa Grandel, 2020 Missouri Teacher of the Year.
Following Grandel’s presentation, there will be a panel discussion that includes the Dannielle Davis, Ph.D., a faculty member in the School of Education’s Higher Education Leadership Program and a researcher studying homeschooling; alumna Karen Hall, Ed.D., superintendent of Maplewood - Richmond Heights School District; and Grandel.
Gary Ritter, Ph.D., dean of the School of Education, will moderate the session.
This session will cover schooling in the pandemic from all angles and participants will hear the teacher’s perspective from the Missouri Teacher of the Year.
Hall will discuss the challenges that school leaders are facing.
Davis will discuss strategies that parents might adopt as so many must now guide their own children through the challenges of virtual schooling.
