Street Law - Legal Observer Training

Thursday, 01 October, 2020

This training will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 1, at the Deaconess Center, 1000 North Vandeventer Ave., St. Louis, MO 63113.

Legal observers document police behavior during protests and other political actions for the explicit purposes of protecting people’s rights to assemble, protest and engage in political expression. By documenting police activity during political actions, we seek to enhance police accountability and deter unconstitutional behavior by law enforcement.

While anyone with proper training can be a legal observer with the NLG, law student volunteers have played a historically significant part in this role ever since the program’s inception.

The meeting location is outdoors, however space is limited to 30, so all attendees are asked to sign up through the following link in order to keep a running headcount. Masks required; accessible restrooms available.

Sign up here.

Sponsored by Street Law, the National Lawyers Guild - St. Louis (NLG-STL) and the American Civil Liberties Union - Missouri (ACLU-MO).
