Gender Non-conformity in the Classroom: Trans and Non-binary Experiences at SLU

Tuesday, April 20, at 2:30 p.m. via Zoom

Every student benefits from acceptance and inclusion in the classroom and in advising. This can mean different things for different students, due to factors from race to socio-economic background to disability. What does it mean for trans and for non-binary students to have recognition and voice? What role can cisgender classmates and faculty play in creating a safe and equitable classroom space?

In this panel discussion, three trans and/or non-binary students and one ally discuss their experiences in the SLU classroom; two faculty members add their thoughts about faculty responsibilities and opportunities. A Q&A period will follow the short presentations.
