Neuro@Noon, the interdisciplinary Neuroscience Journal Club at Saint Louis University will be held on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021, in Schwitalla Lecture Hall 4 (M408).
Dr. Mickey Ariel will discuss a recent article “Cell-type-specific binocular vision guides predation in mice.“
These research experiments employ behavioral testing of prey capture by mice, retrograde labeling of their retinae by brainstem dye injections, patch-clamp recordings during visual stimulation and morphological analysis of the recorded retinal output neurons. The authors discovered that less than 2% of all mouse retinal axons that reach the brain mediate a mouse’s predatory behavior and they encode visual activity in the binocular visual field.
Neuro@Noon is affiliated with the Henry and Amelia Nasrallah Center for Neuroscience.
