All students, faculty and staff on the St. Louis campus are invited to Christmas in the Quad Tuesday, Dec. 6, which is St. Nicholas Day.
The holiday celebration begins at 4:30 p.m. in front of Pius XII Memorial Library and will feature a tree-lighting ceremony; Christmas carols with the SLU Mastersingers and the Campus Ministry Choir; and refreshments, including hot cocoa, coffee and candy canes.
Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by Friday, Dec. 2.
In case of inclement weather, the celebration will be held indoors in the Center for Global Citizenship.
During the event, Blue Santa will collect unwrapped toys for the annual Blue Santa Toy Drive, which is sponsored by the Center for Service and Community Engagement. Attendees are encouraged to bring their donations (unwrapped toys for children ages 4-12) with them.
Last year, 41 different departments at SLU participated in the annual toy drive, collecting an estimated 1,500 toys. Toys are taken directly to several organizations and groups in the community for distribution to organizations such as the Third Baptist Church, Kingdom House, The Urban League and Gateway 180, among others.
