“Rethinking Schizophrenia”

Brian Kirkpatrick received his M.D. from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston and completed psychiatry residency at the University of North Carolina, where he also received a master’s in epidemiology.  After serving on the faculty of the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center and the Medical College of Georgia, he was chair of two university departments of psychiatry.  He is now a Professor at the Psychiatric Research Institute of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. 

Dr. Kirkpatrick has focused on schizophrenia throughout his career.  He was Associate Editor of Clinical Schizophrenia and Related Psychoses, served on the Editorial Board of Schizophrenia Bulletin, and was a co-chair of the NIMH-sponsored Consensus Development Conference on Negative Symptoms.  He has been competitively funded by the Scottish Rite Foundation, NARSAD, the National Institute of Mental Health, and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
