Faculty and staff are invited to join University alumni and enter the season of Lent with an evening of reflection from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, March 6, at Il Monastero.
“Standing with Jesus in His Passion” will be presented by Ronny O’Dwyer, S.J. O’Dwyer is director of the Billiken Teacher Corps and clinical faculty member in SLU’s Institute for Catholic Education. He also has served as assistant pastor of St. Peter Claver parish in Punta Gorda, Belize, and was director of student activities at DeSmet Jesuit High School in St. Louis.
O’Dwyer will invite those attending to consider the passion of Jesus and his choice to bear humanity’s cross. Jesus offers his choice to believers, to accept their crosses and so to share in the suffering of others.
The evening opens with an optional 5:30 p.m. Mass followed by a simple meal at 6 p.m.. The evening will include presentations, reflection and roundtable discussion. The evening closes with prayer and departure at 8:30 p.m.
The evening is sponsored by the Office of Alumni and Donor Engagement and the Office of Mission and Identity.
There is no charge for the first 25 to register. Registration closes on Thursday, March 2.
