Meet SLU’s collegiate chess team and cheer them on to the President’s Cup at an open house from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, in the atrium of Morrissey Hall.
SLU students, faculty, staff and friends are welcome to join in the excitement as SLU’s Chess Team prepares to play in the upcoming President's Cup. After qualifying for the 2017 final four, SLU will now compete for the top honor when they face teams from Texas Tech, the University of Texas-Dallas and Webster University. The President's Cup, which runs Friday, March 24 to Sunday, March 26 in New York City, will determine the U.S. college team chess champion.
Since its inception in 2016, SLU’s Chess Team has attracted the best and brightest minds internationally, and has competed for some of the most coveted collegiate titles in the country. The program is a collaboration between the University and the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis.
