Jeffrey Bishop, M.D., Ph.D., director and Tenet Endowed Chair in Health Care Ethics, will an informational meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 24, in Room 211 in McGannon Hall, regarding his two HCE courses in Madrid this summer.
Bishop is offering two three-week courses this year:
HCE 3300: “Cross-Cultural Perspectives in Bioethics Through Film” spends three weeks exploring how medicine and biotechnology challenge definitions and conceptualizations of being human. The course and all films are presented in English.
HCE 3010: “Ethical Issues in Clinical Medicine” examines practical problems in clinical biomedical ethics. Students examine clinical problems related to the practice of medicine contextually, with attention to institutional, cultural, discursive and moral issues that undergird controversies in clinical ethics.
