Campus-Wide Open Forums on Undergraduate Advising

Thursday, 27 April, 2017

Earlier this semester, the Magis Operational Excellence Program launched a new initiative team focused on undergraduate student advising. The design stage of the initiative is underway, and the team will hold two open forums next week:

  • Monday, April 24:  3-5 p.m. in the LRC Pitlyk Auditorium C (Medical Campus)
  • Thursday, April 27: 3-5 p.m. in BSC 251 (Frost Campus)

The purpose of the forums is to provide an opportunity for SLU students, faculty, and staff to provide insights about the current advising system and to share creative ideas for the future of undergraduate advising at SLU. These forums supplement various stakeholder group meetings, which the team is already conducting.

For those unable to attend any in-person meetings, there are two anonymous online feedback forms -- one for students and one for faculty and staff. Approximately 100 students, faculty, and staff already have shared their views through these forms.

Finally, any member of the SLU community may provide input to any member of the design team, who are:

Mark Higgins, Ph.D., Dean, Cook School of Business

Lisa Israel, Assistant Dean of Students and Director of the Student Success Center

Margaret Bultas, Ph.D., R.N. Assistant Professor, School of Nursing

Jay Haugen, University Registrar

Grant Mayfield, Student, Junior - Student Government Association Vice President for Academic Affairs (2016-2017)

Lisa Michigan, Academic Advisor, Parks College

Denise Sleet, Ph.D., Assistant Dean, College of Arts & Sciences

Debra Lohe, Ph.D., Director, Reinert Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning
