The Department of Psychiatry and Neurology will host a combined Grand Rounds from 8 to 9 a.m., May 4, in Lecture Hall, Schwitalla Hall. Richard D. Bucholz, M.D., F.A.C.S., will present "Human Connectome."
Bucholz, current vice-chair of the Department of Neurosurgery, has received numerous awards and honors, including election as a fellow in 2014 to the National Academy of Inventors. Bucholz specializes in cranial surgery, specifically neuro-oncology, epilepsy surgery, functional surgery, skull base surgery adn stereotactic radiosurgery. His clincial research includes automated segmentation of three dimensional diagnostic imaging; alternative therapeutic interventions such as gene therapy and electrical stimulation; the application of computers in the performance of surgery; application of stereotactic radiosurgery to extracranial lesions; and novel diagnostic techniques and treatment of traumatic brain injury, including military veterans.
