Saint Louis University students and faculty will take part in a staged reading of part of Gregory Carr’s play-in-process Tinderbox from 1 to 3 p.m., May 7, at the Creative Exchange Lab, 3307 Washington Blvd. as part of a collaboration with Harris-Stowe State University.
Carr, currently a faculty member at Harris-Stowe, is workshopping the play, which explores the events surrounding the 1917 East St. Louis Race Riots.
Nancy Bell, associate professor of fine and performing arts, will direct the reading. SLU and Harris-Stowe students will make up the cast.
The reading is free and open to the public and will encompass Act 1 of the play.
