John O'Leary (Cook '99) will share his story of overcoming adversity and living a life for others in a guest speaking event, "Power of One" from 8:30 to 10 a.m., Sept. 26, in the Center for Global Citizenship.
As a child, O'Leary created a massive explosion with gasoline and fire in his garage, burning over 100 percent of his body. Given less than a one percent chance of survival, O'Leary recovered and wrote about his experiences in his national bestseller, On Fire: The 7 Choices to Ignite a Radically Inspired Life. He has served as a chaplain at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital and is a St. Louis area native. SLU's Universitas has profiled him in the past.
All SLU employees are welcome to attend the event, however, space is limited. Registration is available here or login to MySLU and go to the Tools section.
