San Fernando (1217-1252) and His Age: A conference at SLU Madrid

SLU Madrid

A conference studying Christian, Muslim and Jewish interactions in the Mediterranean world during the rain of the Spanish King, Fernando III, King of Castile-Leon, will take place beginning at 9 a.m., Oct. 6 on the campus of SLU-Madrid.

The conference, “San Fernando (1217-1252) and His Age,” is part of a continuing series of international gatherings examining the reign and impact of “San Fernando,” a nephew of St. Louis, King of France. The conference aims, through international dialogue, to provide a reevaluation and recontextualization of Fernando’s place on the local, regional and international stages by engaging with cutting-edge scholarship concerned with themes including intercultural dialogue, leadership, liturgy, power networks and the migration of ideas.
