'The Poetics and the Practice of Peace'

In commemoration of the Clock Tower Accords, the Office of Diversity and Community Engagement is sponsoring “The Poetics and the Practice of Peace,” presented by Ashon Crawley, Ph.D., at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 12, in Room 251, Busch Student Center.

Crawley is an assistant professor of religious studies and African American and African Studies at the University of Virginia. His research areas include Black Studies, queer theory, sound studies, theology, continental philosophy and performance studies. His first book, Blackpentecostal Breath: The Aesthetics of Possibility from Fordham University Press investigates alternative modes of sociality present in the aesthetics practices of Black Pentecostalism.
