A benefit concert to assist with disaster relief in Puerto Rico is set for 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8 at the Billiken Grill in Busch Student Center.
Natural Disasters leave impacts months and years after the onset. Although the impact of Hurricanes Maria and Irma on the island may no longer be making front-page headlines, the need for help is ongoing.
The benefit concert will feature a variety of performances. Students will collect donations at the door, sell vintage Make a Difference Day t-shirts and sell raffle tickets for the chance to win a variety of gift cards and donated prizes. The event’s proceeds will benefit UNICEF to support its work in Puerto Rico.
The program is coordinated by Erick Mendoza as part of the Jesuit University Humanitarian Action Network, the Micah Program, Billikens for Clean Water and SLU’s Center for Service and Community Engagement.
