A.R.C.H. Speaker: “A Lasting Endowment of Hope: Working for Justice and Acting for Peace Today”

The interdisciplinary Cultures of American Religion group at Saint Louis University will welcome Sr. Barbara Roche as its Spring 2018 American Religion, Culture and History speaker at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22. The talk will take place in Room 142, Adorjan Hall.

Roche’s talk is “A Lasting Endowment of Hope: Working for Justice and Acting for Peace Today.”

Roche is a member of the Sisters of Loretto, a Catholic order active in Saint Louis, whose mission is to “work for justice and to act for peace because the Gospel urges us.” She has been involved in a variety of advocacy work, including for the Missouri Housing Alliance, the National Nuclear Weapons Freeze Campaign, and the Sisters’ Energy Conservation Program. She will speak about her order and its social justice focus, and her own work and experience.

A reception will follow the talk, and both the talk and the reception are free and open to the public.
