As part of the bicentennial symposium, “From Selma to St. Louis,” honoring the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the symposium will call the SLU community together for an evening chapel service from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, at St. Francis Xavier College Church.
The Rev. Eboni Marshall Turman, Ph.D., of Yale Divinity School, and Dan White, S.J., pastor of St. Francis Xavier College Church, will lead the worship service and preach.
This concluding service will return to the place where King found his voice and perfected his craft: the pulpit. White will offer welcoming remarks to set the tone for the evening, followed by choir selections in the Black Church tradition. In a culminating sermon, Turman will offer a homily in King’s tradition of justice and love.
