Gateway End-of-Life Coalition 6th Annual Summer Speaker Conference, “Freedom Beyond the ‘Right to Die’: Ethical and Policy Implications,” will take place at 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, in the Health Education Union.
Harole Braswell, Ph.D., assistant professor of health care ethics, will present.
The conference’s objectives are:
Attendees will be able to understand how the "right to die" debate limits the way people think about freedom at the end of life; explain how the US hospice system's dependence on familial caregiving creates systemic ethical problems; and understand the care of dying people, situating it in relation to other movements for social justice.
