The School of Medicine will host the “Spotlight on Women in Medicine and Science (SWIMS) Symposium from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19, in the Pitlyk Auditorium, Learning Resources Center.
Reshma Jagsi, M.D., D.Phil., professor and deputy chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology and director of the Center for Bioethics and Social Sciences in Medicine at the University of Michigan, will be the symposium’s keynote speaker. Her talk is, “#metoo: Navigating power differentials, harassment, and gender inequity in academic medicine.”

Patricia L. Monteleone, M.D., dean emerita (1994-2008) of the School of Medicine. She will present on the historical perspective of women in the School of Medicine.
The symposium will also feature a spotlight on women faculty in the School of Medicine.
