Toast of SLU, Saint Louis University's Toastmasters Club, will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22, in the Marvin and Harlene Wool Center HR training room 128, and will host guest speaker Mickey Luna, J.D., vice president for human resources.
Faculty and staff are invited to attend.
Luna is a veteran human resources executive and former general counsel with nearly two decades of experience in the field. Luna will share his perspective of the importance of communication in his role, and his experience and background on speaking engagements.
D. C. Cooper, president of Toast of SLU, says he believes guest speaker events have been very effective by providing an opportunity for University officials to share the importance of communication. Past speakers have included several other SLU vice presidents and their presentations have been very well received.
"We are all looking forward to hearing Mr. Luna’s presentation." Cooper said. "He has demonstrated strong leadership while enhancing SLU as a place where every employee feels valued and supported.
The Toast of SLU club is a chapter of Toastmasters International, a nonprofit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of meeting locations.
SLU's club for current and retired faculty and staff has been in existence since October 2013 and includes members from various departments throughout the university.
