Jazz n' Tongues: 'Was Langston Hughes the First Rapper?'

The final performance in the “Jazz n’ Tongues” concert series will be a retrospective of Langston Hughes, “Was Langston Hughes the First Rapper?” on Friday, May 10, at 8 p.m., in the University Theatre, Xavier Hall.

The concert will feature poets Roscoe Crenshaw, Cheeraz Gormon, Shirley LeFlore and Eugene Redmond along with musicians Abdul Waahid Jones, of Oakland, California, Claude Montogomery, George Sams and Kendrick Smith.

The performance, a joint venture by the Music Program at Saint Louis University and Nu-Art Series.

Tickets are $10 or $5 with a SLU ID, and can be purchased at 314-534-1111, at or at the door.

Students can attend for free by showing ID from any school.
