Writer and Editor Mark Hagland has become a significant voice in the increasingly controversial debates about international adoption. Himself a Korean adoptee, Mr. Hagland has become a major advocate of “adoption literacy” in relationship to both international and transracial adoption. He has been featured in a number of online sources, publications, and even on film, and so he can offer a unique and highly knowledgeable perspective on this particular kind of international migration. Film Studies has secured a commitment from Mr. Hagland to visit campus and to provide either a presentation or, if possible, to show one of the pertinent films and to provide an introduction and Q&A for the film chosen. This would offer an unusual and powerful insight into a whole different kind of migration and immigration.
