Panel: 'The Intersectionality of Sentencing'

Saturday, 13 April, 2019

SLU’s Transformative Justice Initiative and the Office of Mission and Identity will co-host a panel, “The Intersectionality of Sentencing,” at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, at the Education Union.

Panelists will explore how sentencing not only affects the individual sent to prison, but also negatively impacts the individual's family, along with their community through diminished opportunities and onerous collateral consequences, in particular from an economic standpoint.

The event’s panelists include:

  • Moderator: Stacy Lannert, founder of HealingSisters.org
  • Tim Lohmar, of the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys
  • Mary Fox, of the Missouri Public Defenders
  • Robert Telthorst, Community Liaison Board

Light refreshments will be available.

This event was coordinated by the Community Liaison Board, a group of individuals formerly incarcerated who are seeking justice reform and equity.

The panel is sponsored by the Transformative Justice Initiative and the Office of Mission and Identity.
