Wednesday, 28 August, 2019

Let's ride the Metro! SLU students have been challenged to beat Washington University, St. Louis Community College, the University of Missouri" St. Louis and Southwestern Illinois College in Metro ridership on Wednesday, Aug. 28, as part of the first-ever College Transit Challenge.

Beginning at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 28, participating student riders will check in on social media at a Metro Transit Center and post about their ride, utilizing the hashtag #iTakeTransit and mentioning SLU, such as by tagging @SLU.

Utilizing public transportation is a sustainable, safe, and effective way to navigate St. Louis.

All on-campus residents receive free metro passes when they move in, and free metro passes are also available for commuter students from the Student Government Association (SGA) during Executive SGA office hours in the SGA Commons in the Busch Student Center. Metro passes can also be purchased from SLU Parking and Card Services for students and employees.

All participating students will be entered into a drawing to win prizes. Students can participate by taking MetroLink trains or MetroBus.

Any student on the metro who shows a Metro Transit public safety officer or Bureau of Transit police officer their Metro U-Pass while on the MetroLink or MetroBus could also receive a bonus prize.

The institution that wins the competition will be awarded a MetroLink Train Trophy.
