The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience will present a Grand Rounds from 8 to 9 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, in Lecture Hall 3, Schwitalla Hall.
Alan Felthous, M.D., will present “Combined Homicide-Suicide.”
Felthous is a professor and director of the Forensic Psychiatry Division in the Department of Psychiatry in the School of Medicine. He is senior editor of Behavioral Sciences and the Law, and author of numerous professional publications on forensic and legal psychiatry. Felthous has written and lectured widely on suicide and developed and implemented a jail suicide prevention policy that was effective in preventing jailhouse suicides. He has published several studies on suicide in jail and in prison and recently authored an article analyzing the role of gender in homicide-suicide. With SLU psychiatry residents, he is now updating an earlier classification of homicide-suicide.
