Talk: 'Protecting the Earth: An Environmental, Economic and Moral Challenge'

Internationally renowned botanist Peter Raven, president emeritus of the Missouri Botanical Garden, will speak about the moral challenges presented by climate change at noon on Sunday, Oct. 6, at St. Francis Xavier College Church.

Raven’s talk, “Protecting the Earth: An Environmental, Economic and Moral Challenge,” will take place in the College Church Ballroom. The talk is free and open to the public.

Free parking will be available in the Laclede Garage.

Raven has authored numerous books and reports. Since 1990 he has been a senior science advisor to the Pontifical Academy of Science and most recently one of the minds behind the encyclical letter, Laudato Si, issued by Pope Francis on June 18, 2015. Raven has a deep appreciation of nature and the connection of everything and frames climate change as a moral issue for all people of the Earth.

The talk is sponsored by the Circle of Creation Committee of St. Francis Xavier College Church.
