Workshop: 'Get Ahead of the Game: Writing Effective Proposals'

Career Services and the SLU Research Institute will host a day-long workshop for postdoctoral scholars and graduate students, “Get Ahead of the Game: Writing Effective Proposals,” on Friday, Dec. 13, beginning at 8:30 a.m. The workshop will be held in the Career Services Center, Griesedieck Hall.

Saran Twombly, Ph.D., a SLU proposal development consultant, will be the workshop’s featured speaker. Twombly has experience with a variety of funders, particularly with the National Science Foundation (NSF). She joined NSF in 2002 and served as an environmental biology program director until 2016.

She is currently a research affiliate at Colorado State University.

Before joining NSF, Twombly carried out an active research program and taught biology at the University of Rhode Island for 17 years. She also completed postdoctoral research in Norway, Venezuela and the Woods Hold Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts after receiving her doctorate in biology from Yale.
