Juvenile Parole Training & CLE

Friday, 31 January, 2020

The Roderick & Solange MacArthur Justice Center, Husch Blackwell, and the SLU Law Legal Clinics are holding a juvenile parole training on January 31, 2020, for attorneys interested in providing legal advice, representation, and support to youthful offenders given mandatory life without parole sentences in Missouri. The SLU community, including students interested in this topic, are also welcome to attend and must RSVP using this form by January 29, 2020, at 5pm.

This day-long training will provide a background on juvenile parole in Missouri, as well as the federal class action case filed by the MacArthur Justice Center challenging the Missouri Parole Board's demonstrated abuse of power, disregard for due process and failure to comply with state and federal law when it comes to youthful offenders previously given mandatory life without parole sentences. The training will also cover trauma and adolescent development, how to prepare a client for reentry, how to conduct a mitigation investigation, and how to keep parole board hearings client-centered.

CLE credit will be available to Missouri-licensed attorneys.

Room 1066

RSVP required.
