Neuro@Noon Journal Club

Thursday, 16 January, 2020

Neuro@Noon, the University’s neuroscience journal club, will meet at noon on Thursday, Jan. 16, in the large Pharm/Phys conference room, Room  M360, Schwitalla Hall.

Rick Samson, Ph.D., will present “Leptin’s hunger-suppressing effects are mediated by the hypothalamic ‘pituitary’ adrenocortical axis in rodents,” and refreshments will be provided by the Henry and Amelia Nasrallah Center for Neuroscience.

The article describes experiments performed at Yale and Harvard Medical Schools identifying an indirect mode by which low levels of the hormone leptin modulate release of stress hormone from the adrenal cortex that signals hypothalamic neurons to regulate appetite.
