Increasingly in Distress: Supporting Student Health and Wellbeing

Consistent with national trends, SLU students experience a multitude of stressors and challenges to health and wellbeing. From rising anxiety levels to mental health concerns to housing and food insecurity to social media -- college campuses struggle to adequately support student wellbeing. Responding to these challenges takes all of us.

In this highly interactive workshop, participants will enhance their understanding of who SLU students are and how they are managing health and wellbeing; explore concrete practices for effectively responding to students in distress in both classroom and co-curricular contexts; and learn about the range of campus resources available to support student health and wellbeing.

The workshop will feature a keynote presentation by Mona Hicks (Dean of Students), and a panel of representatives from key campus resources: Christie Tisher (University Counseling Services), Renee Jonas (Director of Student Health Center), Patrick Cousins (Campus Ministry), Michelle Lewis (Institutional Equity), and Andrew Erdmann (Dean of Students Office).
