Mental Health Resources for Faculty and Staff

11/19/2021

February 4, 2022

Colleagues,

For nearly two years, we have been confronted with disruption and uncertainty. We hope for a return to normalcy and see signs of its return, only to be disheartened by another wave of the pandemic. But each time, we have taken on these challenges together.

Now, with the spring semester underway, the pandemic continues to have a profound and exhausting impact on our lives. Many in our community are feeling the cumulative effects of stress, anxiety, and isolation.  We want you to know that we care about you, your families, your wellbeing.

In times like these, as you’re juggling challenges in multiple areas of your life, it’s that much harder to know where to turn for help. To that end, we would like to remind you of resources that are available to you, your family and those close to you.

We’ve updated the list of well-being resources we shared last fall. We hope it can be a helpful starting point now if needed – or a valuable reference later – if you or someone you care about needs support.

ComPsych Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

New: On-Demand Training When You Need It

On-demand training sessions that provide focused, quick support are available when you need it. Choose from a variety of topics that are periodically updated, such as helping a loved one through difficult times, managing staff through change and stress, and much more.

Click here to register for online access (Web ID: SLUEAP). Once logged in, you can find the sessions on the guidanceresources.com page.

In-Person Counseling

In-person, confidential counseling through the EAP is available to all SLU employees, their family members, and members of their household:

If you want to speak to a counselor more quickly, ComPsych has full-time counselors on staff. When you call, let the clinician know you would like to speak to one of their full-time counselors over the phone. They will assist in scheduling an appointment and a ComPsych counselor will call you within 24 hours.

New York Life Family and Mental Health Support

New: Webinars and Online Resources

Live and on-demand webinars are available to help support you through difficult times, such as adjusting to a caregiving role, understanding and managing addiction, and navigating through grief and loss. Click here to view the current schedule. If you can’t attend a live webinar, be sure to register so you can access the recorded version.

You also can access a host of articles, videos, and audio clips at www.nylgbs-lap.com on range of issues including parenting, aging, mental health support, family and relationships, and much more.

SLU Medical Plan Resources

Additional support resources are available to you and your family if enrolled in SLU’s medical plans administered by UHC:

Additional Community Resources

The following resources are available to anyone, and we encourage you to share them with anyone in your family or community who may need support:

We care about you and your family and greatly appreciate your contributions to the SLU community. Please use these resources to take care of yourself and others. Together we have overcome many challenges, and we will continue to do so by continuing to support one another.

If you need additional assistance or have questions, please reach out to your supervisor, your Human Resources Consultant, or me. We want to make sure you feel supported and protected while serving our students, caring for our patients, and carrying out our mission.

Sincerely,

Mickey Luna
