SLU Community Honors 'Women of the Year'
The Women’s Commission held its annual recognition of the contributions of women to the success of the University mission on Wednesday, April 26, in the Wool Ballroom in Busch Student Center.
The Women of the Year honorees for 2017 include:
- LaShone Gibson, former associate dean of admission & doctoral student in Higher Education Administration
- Mona Hicks, Ed.D, dean of students, associate vice president of Student Development
- Joanne Langan, Ph.D., associate professor and associate dean, Undergraduate and Prelicensure Education, School of Nursing
- Norma Metheny, Ph.D, professor and Dorothy A.Votsmier Endowed Chair in Nursing, School of Nursing
- Angela Sharkey, M.D., professor and associate dean for Faculty Affairs and Development, Division of Cardiology
Established in 1973, the Women's Commission of Saint Louis University serves to promote the interests, issues and concerns of the women at the University. Its purpose is to educate, enrich and empower women. The commission has honored exceptional SLU women through the annual Woman of the Year award since 1978. The commission’s programs are open to all members of the University community.
