Construction to Commence on SSM Health SLU Hospital

Members of the SLUCare and Saint Louis University community will join their partners from SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital to celebrate the beginning of construction of their new academic medical center. The groundbreaking of SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital and ambulatory care center will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, on the construction site north of Desloge Tower, 1201 S. Grand Blvd.

Ceremony speakers include Saint Louis University President Fred P. Pestello, Ph.D.; Chris Howard, president of hospital operations for SSM Health; and Kate Becker, president of SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital.

Those attending will commemorate the day with a brief ceremony, view current progress on the “big dig,” enjoy a cake that is an architectural model of the new campus and take a virtual tour of the new facility.

After announcing their expanded partnership two years ago, SSM Health and SLUCare Physician Group have collaborated closely to design the new SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital and ambulatory care center, which will provide exceptional care for decades to come. Construction is expected to be completed on Sept. 1, 2020.
