SLUCare Physicians Among the First to Receive COVID-19 Vaccinations at SLU Hospital

On Thursday, Dec. 17, SLUCare physicians were among those to receive the first doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. The physicians from Saint Louis University’s academic medical practice, along with nurses and other frontline health care workers were vaccinated at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued the first emergency use authorization of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine Dec. 11. The vaccine has been released under an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) from the FDA and is prioritized for distribution first to health care workers as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
