Students, Alumni Find Success Through Career Services

03/02/2020

Sophomore Parssa Sazdar knows how he’ll be spending his next summer – as a software engineering intern with AT&T.

Alumna Hannah Bailey (CSB ’14) landed her dream job. What do the two Billikens have in common?

Both worked with Saint Louis University’s Career Services Center to get the help they needed to make their professional aspirations reality.

With a newly-renovated space in Griesedieck Hall and expanded mission to support SLU students and alumni as they build their careers, the office has launched a new Student Success Stories initiative to capture the unique ways that University support has helped them become the working professionals they want to be.

“The stories allow audiences an insider’s perspective on how Career Services can support them in their career development journey,” Ahmar Ursani, career counselor, said. “These narratives are motivating and inspiring for students to get started on their career development.”

The initiative also seeks to help academic departments and programs across the University highlight the careers their alumni pursue after graduation. Current success stories include alumni and students who are working or interning in fields from the health sciences to meteorology to the nonprofit sector.

“Every academic unit has a student success story in regards to career development,” Ursani said. “Career Services are here to be a conduit to springboard these stories into the light, on campus and beyond.”

SLU’s Career Services is unique in offering its professional expertise to University alumni free of charge and regardless of graduation year. Alumni and current students can seek help including career counseling, resume development support, cover letter review among other services.

“We have a lifelong commitment to our Billikens, no matter what stage in life they are at,” Ursani continued.
